For the local community
One of the recurrent problems in many towns is the dwindling sense of community and belonging. In days gone by this was often centred around industries which employed large numbers of people, working men’s clubs, local pubs and the like, while the town centres were home to many and were the places that everyone went to shop. Society has however moved on from here today we see a very different picture. Hometown Plus exists to help these communities fight back and to re-establish these centres as thriving community hubs which people want to visit and to which businesses want to locate.
The programme delivers significant social benefits to the community, including reduced loneliness and isolation, greater inclusion, improved training and education, as well as a peer to peer support network and greater sense of wellbeing for all.
